The ATP Kids Research Game
Turn kids into word detectives.
Every player draws a phrase, like “once in a blue moon” or “let the cat out of the bag.” Then they move around the board collecting clues: research hints, where the phrase came from, what it means, and a picture of it. Collect the full set, check the answer book, and give your phrase a grade from A to F. First to appraise their phrase correctly wins.

Built to supplement your reading and writing curriculum. Supports Common Core standards L.3.5.A, L.4.5.B, and L.5.5.B (literal vs. nonliteral language and common idioms, adages, and proverbs). Uses picture association, the five elements of teaching research skills, and timed repeated reading. Includes a parent and teacher guide with lesson ideas like an idiom wall and idiom role-play.

Raise The Bar is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that creates and supports literacy programs for schools and youth organizations. Our goal: help more kids read at or above grade level, and help them love doing it.
